A legend in my books has died today. James Oliver Rigney, Jr., whom goes by the name Robert Jordan, the author of the Wheel of Time books, has died today at the age of 58. He has been struggling with a rare disease primary amyloidosis with cardiomyopathy (cardiac amyloidosis), a disease that drastically shortened his life expectancy. Today, the battle ended. Despite expecting it to happen at any time, it’s still sad to hear. I had hoped, perhaps somewhat selfishly, that he would finish his books before that happened. I guess we’ll just have to wait and see what dragonmount will do with the material/plotline/etc.

Today the wheel of time stops and lives on only in memory.

My deepest condolences to his family for their loss.

You can read about it here: http://www.dragonmount.com/RobertJordan/?p=90
