Another poem

Across the world she sits alone
Tears stream down a beautiful face
Left behind by the one she loves
Left behind by one who loves her

Not even the star she wishes upon
Can be seen from his window
Not even her wish flies fast enough
To see him go off to war

Alone he sits under the sky
His weapon cold in his hand
He tries to keep her off his mind
As he watches the road ahead

Not even the bullets flying near
Can erase her from his thoughts
As he turns to aim at anything
And hope he makes it home today

Alone they sit, a world apart
As he waits for another day
Both waiting to be together again
And a future neither can know
