Today
Not much happened today. I sat through a whole lot of briefings today that covered everything form rules of engagement to where we’ll be driving. We have the safest truck company in iraq right now (and we’re also the biggest.) We have so few injuries or casulties because we’re trained really well and always diligent. I’ll prob go on my first convoy in the next few days. As for mortars, I heard my first explosion this morning. Kinda scary and all, and then the alarms went off. Either way, every building I go into is protected with cement barriers and sandbags so you don’t have to worry about me. It’s kinda just an annoyance of the base.
I also found out that they have a internet/phone tent next to mine, so I can come here and use the comp about 15/20 mins. The phone require you to setup an account with the company and you pay to use it. I’m looking into it now. Hopefully I’ll be able to call home tonight.
Anyways, don’t worry about me, I’m smart enough to know how to keep my head.
Always staying safe,
Matt
